SERVICES - ITALY

 

For Italian property and other tax-related services (such as TASI, IMU, F24s, inheritances and much more) please contact our office nearest you for information on requried documentation, related costs and when to visit us.

 

We provide free assistance with the following Italian pensions/benefits, usually paid by Italian social security agency INPS:
Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale. Please ensure you have all required documents with you when visiting us to apply. For current info about age and other requirements, please visit the INPS site (in Italian) or contact our office nearest to you.

 

Retirement benefits
 (pensione di vecchiaia)

You may be eligible for an Italian retirement pension payable by INPS, based on the three following factors:

 

- age (pensionable age is currently 66 for men and 62 for women)
- a minimum number of years of pension contributions
- current employment status (note: self-employed workers
are allowed to work and claim retirement benefits).

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- S.I.N. (Social Insurance Number)

 

- "landed immigrant"-stamped Italian passport or Landed Immigrant Certificate (from Immigration Canada)

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

 

- Any and all available Italian contributory documents
(military documents, contribution receipts/books, etc.)

Disability benefits
 (assegno ordinario di invalidità)

The Italian disability pension is a benefit dedicated to persons whose ability to work has been reduced by at least 2/3 due to a physical or mental disability and who have at least 5 years of contributions (of which at least 3 years must be from the five years preceding the date of application.

 

These benefits are available to unemployed, employed and self-employed applicants.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- S.I.N. (Social Insurance Number)

 

- "landed immigrant"-stamped Italian passport or Landed Immigrant Certificate (from Immigration Canada)

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

 

- Any and all available Italian contributory documents
(military documents, contribution receipts/books, etc.)

 

- Completed medical certificate (blank forms are provided by our offices, or you can download a printable version here).

 

Veteran's Pension
 (pensione di guerra)

An Italian war pension is payable by the Italian Treasury Ministry to anyone who has suffered illness or phsyical trauma during Italian military or wartime service. Please contact our office nearest you for information on eligibility and requirements.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- S.I.N. (Social Insurance Number)

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

 

- Military documents

 

- Medical certificate

Request for contributory periods

Statements of Italian pension contributory periods can be requested from the Italian social services agency I.N.P.S. (Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale) through our office. These are usually requested to determine the number of Italian contributions a worker has made over their lifespan.

"Proof of Life"
  (Western Union® Letter / Citibank®)

INPS pensioners abroad may receive a Citibank® letter asking them to visit Western Union® to collect their July payment. This must be done within 90 days and is essentially a “proof of life” measure for ongoing pensions, in the case that other proof (ie. a CEV: Certificato di Esistenza in Vita) was not provided in the previous month.

For your July payment, simply bring your valid photo ID featuring info (name, address, etc.) matching the pension in question, to any Western Union® office with the Quick Cash® service.

Once payment is collected and verified, payments that follow will take place as usual (to your regular financial institution).

Signature / Document legalization
Early retirement benefits
 (pensione anticipata, previously called     "anzianità")

If you have over 41.5 years of contributions and have not yet reached pensionable age you MAY qualify for an Italian early retirement pension, depending on age and other requirements.

Survivor's benefits
 (pensione ai superstiti)

An Italian survivor's pension (pensione ai superstiti/reversibilità) is payable by I.N.P.S. (Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale - Italian social security), upon death of a contributing or retired worker, to certain surviving family members.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- S.I.N. (Social Insurance Number)

 

- "landed immigrant"-stamped Italian passport or Landed Immigrant Certificate (from Immigration Canada)

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

 

- Any and all available Italian contributory documents belonging to the deceased contributor (military documents, contribution receipts/books, etc.)

Life Certificates
 (certificato esistenza in vita or CEV)

Various agencies require life certificates for expediting payment and/or approval of pensions and brenefits. The Italian Treasury Ministry requires these certificates twice a year (approx. January 1st and July 1st) for all pension recipients and INPS once a year, usually due by June 1st.

 

These certificates are expedited directly online at any of our offices, please ensure you have the following required documents on hand.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

 

- Pension number for which the life certificate is required

Pension transfers

A contributor may, through our office, request that a paying agency transfer his or her pension to a specific bank account, a delegated person or a new address.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

 

- Valid photo ID (citizenship, driver's license, valid passport)

- Number of pension to be transferred

- Bank account number for transfer of pension; 

name, address and telephone number of delegated person;
or both new and old street addresses.

Income Declaration
  (Mod. Red. Est. / INPS)

Each year, INPS pensioners abroad receive a Mod. Red. Est. income declaration form with which they must communicate their total income to maintain their pension.

 

Please ensure you bring all forms and documents listed below when visiting our offices for processing.

- Mod. Red. Est. form and any attached documentation
